regional police station

A base office for a police department under a government between the city level and the national level.

A regional police station is a base of operations used by any sub-national or other regional police force belonging to a governmental administrative unit higher than a municipality but lower than a country; this includes police departments serving states, provinces, counties, and metropolitan areas. There may be several such stations within the same administrative regional unit.

The responsible government is above the municipal level and below the national level. States, provinces, counties, and metropolitan administrative areas can meet this description.

Several stations can serve the same regional unit. The size of one station's immediate service area does not establish the governmental level of its police force.
