reference point

Reference points cover aspects of buildings which are referred to in measurements or in professional literature. They are generally independent of data organization.

A reference point or element identifies the part of a building to which a description or measurement refers. The base of a structure provides a height reference, for example.

The architectural top element identifies a physical element. The measured height to that element is a separate numerical description.
