number of freight hoists

The number of movable platforms for lifting cargo, especially near loading docks.

The number of freight hoists in a building or other place is the total quantity of mechanically movable platforms, other than elevators, used to lift or lower freight, cargo, or other goods (not counting driven vehicles). These are very often located near loading docks.

Count mechanically raised or lowered cargo platforms other than elevators. Platforms whose load consists of driven vehicles are excluded from this freight-hoist measure.

A loading dock is a common setting rather than a required location. The same cargo-lifting function can occur elsewhere in a building or other place.
