Definitions

mosque

A house of worship built for Islamic prayers and services.

A mosque is a structure built originally as a house of worship in the Islamic faith. Unless it has been repurposed, it normally has the usage "mosque" as well.

Although mosque buildings take a wide variety of forms, they generally include a large open space for worship, often covered with a dome. Following the laws written in the Quran, ornamental details in a mosque are non-representative (to avoid idolatry) and typically feature geometrical or florid designs.

Mosque buildings often feature minarets at their corners or outside the building perimeter. If the minarets are physically connected to the central mosque structure, they should be included as part of the same building.
