event date
The time value of any data which is treated as a point in time rather than a range.
An event date is a single time which reflects a particular change or occurrence, as opposed to data whose validity is covered by a time span with a beginning and an end. Event dates include changes of construction status or company status, or specially defined events in the lifecycle of an entity.
Event dates are generally stored as start dates with a null value for the end date, and are associated with types of data for which only one date is considered relevant.
The date locates an occurrence or change as a point in time. It differs from a pair of dates bounding the period during which an ongoing condition remains valid.
