granulated cork

Granules of cork-oak bark used as loose thermal insulation in wall or roof spaces.

Granulated cork is a thermal insulation material made from the bark of the cork oak tree (Quercus suber). It generally performs well as an insulator, resists water absorption, and is basically non-toxic.

Small pieces of bark form the loose insulating material. Their granulated form distinguishes them from a rigid cork panel.

The cork is placed within the space being insulated. The material identity is separate from any finish covering the insulation.
