exterior wall thickness

The median distance between the finished interior wall and the facade at a building perimeter.

The exterior wall thickness of a building is the median distance between the facade surface and the finished interior wall at the building's perimeter. Included in the thickness is any structural framework, facade veneer, insulation, interior wall coating, plumbing, wiring, or mechanical ducts.

The thickness of a dividing wall inside a building should be listed as the interior wall thickness.

The value is a median across the whole object and not a figure taken from one place. A tower normally has thicker walls low down than high up, so a number read off a single detail drawing answers a different question than this field asks.

Where a building has two clearly different constructions, such as a podium and a tower, each is described on its own record rather than averaged into one value.
