A tall building is any enclosed structure whose interior space above ground level is regularly divided into a minimum of 10 inhabitable and enclosed floors.

This category includes three sub-types (high-rise building, skyscraper, and supertall building) separated by height thresholds; however, it is common and generally accepted to use one of these terms as a catch-all for anything taller - for example, "high-rise" may include skyscrapers, and "skyscraper" may include supertalls.

Tall buildings do not include structures such as towers, monuments, and houses of worship, whose height is primarily uninhabitable or not divided into regular occupiable floors. The term also excludes open-air structures such as parking decks, which often have 10 or more floors but are not enclosed.
