Bulk storage of propane in liquid or gaseous form, excluding warehouse or retail storage of portable propane tanks.

Propane storage facilities are places for bulk storage of raw propane, a flammable three-carbon alkane derived from either petroleum refining or natural gas processing. Propane can be either a liquid or a gas. This does not include warehouse or retail storage of portable propane tanks.

The stored propane can be liquid or gas. Its source can be petroleum refining or natural-gas processing.

The definition distinguishes a bulk propane installation from an inventory of portable tanks. A warehouse or retail area holding those tanks is expressly excluded.
