A data center is a site used to house servers and storage of electronic data, particularly for internet purposes. Human employment is minimal in a site like this, as most space is devoted to server storage and data pathways.

Servers, data storage, and their connections occupy the space for its computing function. Internet use is especially common, but electronic data serving other purposes is also included.

The concentration of equipment distinguishes this use from an ordinary office that merely contains computers. Relatively limited on-site staffing reflects the equipment-focused use rather than a fixed employee limit.
