creamery

An industrial facility processing raw milk into consumable dairy products and usually packaging them.

A creamery is an industrial facility where raw unprocessed milk is transformed into consumable dairy products such as milk, yogurt, butter, cream, cheese, and ice cream. Milk is generally pasteurized and homogenized in the creamery, and the final products are packaged there for distribution.

The facility transforms milk into the dairy products supplied to consumers. Bottling milk without producing or processing it is a separately identifiable bottling activity.

The output can be liquid milk or products such as butter and cheese. A farm producing raw milk has a different agricultural function unless processing also takes place there.
