A bus stop is a designated pick-up and/or drop-off point for bus passengers along a regular bus route, which is not a major terminal for multiple bus lines. Bus stops usually serve a single route, but they may serve multiple routes that overlap.

This usage may be applied to stops on local or long-distance bus lines. It may take a variety of physical forms, including pavilions, buildings, benches, shelters, or outdoor locations without built structures.

Several overlapping routes can use the same stop without making it a major terminal. The distinction depends on the stop's role in the bus network, and does not require a particular shelter or building.
