Religious spaces are areas dedicated to worship, prayer, or activities prescribed for spiritual purposes by any organized or defined religion or religious tradition.

The dedication to religious practice establishes the usage. A church, synagogue, or mosque identifies the tradition associated with a worship space.

A religious usage does not require one particular building form. A worship space can occupy a structure originally designed for another purpose, while a building's religious architectural appearance alone does not establish its current intended use.
