children's museum

A public play space or learning center with interactive museum-like exhibits.

A children's museum is a public site where educational exhibits are presented for the enjoyment and edification of children, generally below the teen years. Children's museums often mix play areas with highly interactive informational exhibits. They typically do not serve as repositories of valuable artifacts.

The exhibits are directed mainly toward children below their teenage years. Play and direct interaction can be methods of presenting educational material.

A collection of valuable artifacts is not required. The museum-like educational exhibits distinguish the site from a playground consisting only of play equipment.
