regular floor

A normal and occupiable floor level which is fully above the base level of a building or structure.

A regular floor is a floor level in a building which is fully above the base level, is not devoted to mechanical equipment, whose floor does not slope, and which fills the plane defined by the building's perimeter at that level.

The level must fill the plane bounded by the building's perimeter at that height. A partial platform leaving adjacent open space has the different form of a mezzanine.

A sloping floor or a level devoted to mechanical equipment fails the other stated conditions. Underground levels are assessed as basements rather than regular above-ground floors.
