Quantities of windows are counted measures of apertures in building walls through which light or views are passed. As the word "window" means different things depending on the context, the quantity of windows is expressed differently by variously defined data fields.
Unless otherwise specified, the number refers to windows on all sides of a building, structure, or other object (not only on the front side).
An aperture is an opening, a window unit is a separately installed framed section, and a pane is a division of glazing. Several units or panes can belong to one opening, so these counts describe different things.
