wood-burning power plant

A facility that converts energy released by burning wood into usable electric power.

A wood-burning power plant is a place where electric power is generated by harnessing the energy of wood combustion.

Wood combustion supplies the energy for electricity production. Merely burning wood for space heating does not establish an electric power plant.

The fuel distinguishes this use from coal-, oil-, and natural-gas-burning generation. A wood storage or processing site without electrical generation has a different function.
