Thermal wall insulation supplied and installed as rigid sheets, including insulating boards and panels.

Panel insulation refers to forms of thermal wall insulation which are installed as rigid sheets. This includes many forms of styrofoam, aerogel, boards of synthetic insulating materials, and vacuum insulated panels.

The material holds a rigid sheet form during installation. This distinguishes a panel from a flexible batt or a mass of loose fill.

Different substances can take the panel form. A rigid foam sheet belongs here, while foam insulation applied by spraying or injection has a different installation form.
