sheeting

A facade formed by a continuous sheet or membrane mounted over the framework.

A sheeting facade consists of a large continuous sheet or membrane affixed to the framework or to a perimeter wall. In contrast to a panel facade, sheeting generally forms a single unit, with any separate pieces or panels welded or joined together. In contrast to a curtain wall, the sheeting material is not hung on an independent metal framework but is rather mounted at several points directly onto the frame or wall.

Common materials applied as sheeting include vinyl siding, wood, and many metal facade materials.

Joined pieces can form the continuous sheet, so manufacture as one original piece is not required. Direct attachment to the building frame or wall distinguishes the system from a curtain wall.
