trussed frame

A framework whose intersecting vertical and horizontal members are reinforced by one or more series of diagonal braces.

A trussed frame is a simple framework reinforced by one or more series of diagonal braces that join straight verticals and horizontals at their intersections.

The braces join the framework at the intersections of its vertical and horizontal members. Their diagonal orientation gives the otherwise simple framework additional resistance to distortion.

A rigid frame relies on its joints, whereas this system expressly includes diagonal bracing. The definition does not require those braces to form a perimeter tube.
