An embassy is the chief diplomatic facility for one country's representatives in another country, or in a country's mission to an international governmental organization such as the United Nations. It is distinct from a consulate, which is a similar facility subordinate to and separate from an embassy.

Embassies typically hold administrative offices as well as ceremonial reception rooms. Very often, when there is no consulate for the same country nearby, they hold spaces for services such as visa processing and assistance to their own nationals visiting or living in the host country.

An embassy may be configured to represent multiple countries at once.
