atrium height

The vertical distance from the lowest to the highest point of the highest enclosed atrium in a structure or module.

The atrium height is applied to the highest atrium within a structure or module, and measures the vertical distance from its lowest point to its highest point. This distance is taken as a straight vertical line even if the lowest point is not aligned directly below the highest point; therefore the height of an atrium may not reflect the actual clearance within it.

An atrium is defined as a wide, continuous open space at least 5 floor levels high inside a multi-story building.

The measurement begins within the atrium, at its lowest point. It is distinct from the elevation of the atrium above the structure's base.

Horizontal displacement between the lowest and highest points does not turn the measurement into a diagonal length. Obstructions within that vertical span can make the available clearance smaller than the stated height.
