dry laboratory

Space for testing and experimentation of electronics and other inorganic and non-reactive materials.

NOTE: this usage is being phased out, and is being replaced with the distinct research sectors which use dry labs.

A dry laboratory is a laboratory space that is specific to work with dry stored materials, electronics, and/or large instruments with few piped services. The laboratories defined by this space type are analytical laboratories that may require accurate temperature and humidity control, dust control, and clean power.

The laboratory arrangement depends on the equipment and dry materials being analyzed. Controlled environmental conditions may be needed even with few piped services; the limited wet-service requirement does not mean that the space has no technical requirements.
