vehicle entrance

A point where vehicles leave the street grid to enter or approach a structure.

A vehicle entrance is a point where motorized road vehicles leave the surrounding roadway network to enter a building. For this purpose, a public or private driveway counts as part of the roadway network, but a ramp does not; therefore the beginning of a ramp, whether leading up or down, constitutes a vehicle entrance. When the entrance is directly off of flat ground, the point where continuous shelter of the roadway begins marks the point of entrance.

A vehicle entrance can also be used as an exit, but when a vehicle exit is located at a totally different point on the building's perimeter then it counts separately as a vehicle exit.

The entrance boundary begins at the ramp when a ramp leads into the building. On flat ground it begins where continuous shelter starts, while a driveway remains part of the approaching road network.
