A distinct structure which forms an integral part of a large public functional network.

An infrastructural edifice is a single distinct structure which serves as part of a large infrastructure network, or which functions as an integral part of a large area's transportation, power, water supply, landform retention, or similar system. These are generally structures which cannot be classified under other construction types. Repetitive objects such as power line supports and street lamps are considered to belong to infrastructural networks, and are not listed as individual structures.

The object is a distinct constructed part of a wider functional system. Its role can concern transport, utility supply, or retention of the surrounding landform.

Repetitive supports and street lamps belong to the network treatment stated above. The distinction concerns a separately identifiable infrastructural edifice rather than every component of a network.
