A policy excluding persons of the female sex from a defined area during the periods covered by the rule.
A policy excluding women indicates that persons of the female sex are barred from entering the premises, at least during periods of its usage. This policy is often used for bathing and athletic facilities. It may also be applied to brothels where female visitors are prohibited, even if many women work there.
The restriction concerns admission to the area and can apply during particular periods of use. It does not necessarily describe every activity elsewhere on the property.
When directed at visitors, the restriction can coexist with women working on the premises, as in the example above. An employees-only rule instead distinguishes entrants by their employment relationship.
