Fiberglass rigid panels are hard or stiff sheets made from glass fibers. They are used for both thermal and acoustic insulation; their glass fibers are flame resistant.
The glass fibers are formed into a firm sheet rather than supplied as loose fill or a flexible blanket. The panel form is part of the material classification.
The same fibrous structure can serve thermal and acoustic purposes. Sound absorption does not exclude use as thermal insulation, and the insulation rating depends on the particular board and its thickness.
