gantry

A structure with one or more upright masts supporting a horizontal member, often for signs or working equipment.

A gantry is a structure consisting of one or more masts holding up a horizontal member, usually at or near the top of the structure. These are often used as supports for signs, or occasionally to hold working instruments like hoists or cranes.

The horizontal member is usually near the top of the supporting mast or masts. Its connection to the uprights forms the characteristic arrangement.

Signs are a common load, while hoists and other working equipment can also be supported. The definition does not require a gantry to contain a lifting mechanism.
