A monorail station is a facility with platforms where passengers get on or off of single-rail trains. A station serving a monorail is listed with this usage regardless of whether the monorail is a short-range shuttle or a long-range intercity train. Such stations often include ticketing areas, waiting areas, and supporting facilities such as shops, kiosks, and eateries.
The single-rail system determines the station type. Route length does not move an intercity monorail station into the ordinary regional-rail station meaning.
Platforms provide the boarding and alighting space. Shops and waiting facilities can accompany them without being required in every monorail station.
