sandstone

A floor made from cut natural sandstone in blocks, sheets, pavers, or other stone units.

Sandstone flooring uses blocks, sheets, pavers, or any other cut of sandstone, a common type of stone composed of hardened sedimentary sand. It is common in old churches and institutional buildings where the rock is commonly found.

The individual pieces are cut from sedimentary sandstone. No single unit size or shape is required.

Old churches and institutional buildings are common settings rather than exclusive uses. The sandstone must form the flooring surface, separately from sandstone facade cladding.
