division

Divisions are sub-organizations within a company which act as individual firms with regard to their role in a structure or complex.

The division remains part of the larger company while having a distinct organizational role in the work concerned. Its identity as a sub-organization does not require a separate incorporated company.

A branch is an office subordinate to a company's home office. A division instead describes the organizational unit and its individual role, rather than merely the location of an office.
