cumulative visitors
The accumulated number of qualifying visits to a place over its history, usually counting at most one visit per person per day.
The cumulative number of visitors to a place is the total quantity of visits throughout history, until the present time, by human beings who come to the particular place as persons coming to an attraction. It does not include persons employed by that place, who live there, or who stay regularly with persons living or working there. A single person may register multiple visits to a place, but usually only one visit per day will count toward this statistic.
Visits include customer visits for shopping, entertainment, hotel lodging, medical care, services, and other usages where the individual persons are not generally tied to that particular place (although they may be committed customers or members). Also included are members of the public who enter a place free of charge, or (when the place is a transportation conduit) in transit.
The total accumulates visits rather than unique individuals. The same person can contribute on different days, while a yearly total covers only one calendar year instead of the full historical period.
