A solid material distribution site is a channel, machine, crane, belt, tube, pipeline, trough, or other place for conveying or moving solid or particulate material from one location to another. This may apply to commodities such as coal, ore, gravel, etc., which can be carried in a stream to meet a steady demand, or it may apply to places where finished goods are routinely conveyed from one point to another (such as an intermodal crane or a moving belt). It does not refer to trucking, shipping, rail, or other delivery routes for occasional movement of solid materials.

The conveyed material can be a bulk commodity or finished goods. Intermodal cranes and moving belts are included alongside channels carrying a steady material stream.

Trucking, shipping, and rail delivery routes for occasional movements are expressly excluded. The conveyor facility is distinct from the transport route on which a load later travels.
