A comedy club is a place used for regular non-theatrical comedy performances in front of an audience. It includes stand-up comedy as well as other forms of comedic performance which are not considered theatrical plays.
Stand-up is included alongside other comedy performed outside a theatrical play. The presence of an audience and regular performance use defines the venue.
A comic play remains a theatrical performance. Its humorous subject does not by itself make the theater a comedy club.
