Aluminum sheeting is a common roofing material used for its durability and low cost. Its most common form is long slats of aluminum which interlock at the edges, forming a pattern of parallel ridges where the panels meet.

The aluminum sheets form the outside covering, and their edge joints can create parallel ridges. Interlocking slats are a common arrangement rather than the only possible aluminum sheet format.

Small overlapping aluminum plates have the metal shingle arrangement. Large steel or copper panels share the sheet format but have a different principal metal.
