nanotechnology research
A facility devoted to studies in technological applications at the molecular or atomic scale.
A nanotechnology research facility is a place where knowledge about nanotechnology applications is advanced through various forms of research. Nanotechnology refers to the manipulation (in at least one dimension) of matter at the scale of individual molecules or even atoms.
The research concerns applications based on manipulating matter at molecular or atomic scales in at least one dimension. The entire resulting object need not have that scale in every dimension.
Routine fabrication of an established product is different from research into its nanoscale applications. Nanotechnology research can concern electronic applications without being limited to electronics research.
