cargo port terminal

A waterside terminal for transferring cargo between ships and land for onward transport or storage.

A cargo port terminal is a facility where products are loaded or unloaded between ships and land, either for further transport or for storage. They are usually situated at the edge of an ocean or sea, river, or lake.

Cargo port terminals often have cargo-handling equipment such as cranes and forklifts for use in loading/unloading of ships. They are often located near processing or land-shipping facilities.

Both inland and coastal ship traffic are included. Cargo can continue by land after unloading or be placed in storage; immediate onward shipment is not required.
