CTBUH building ID
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's identification number for a building in the Skyscraper Center database.
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat gives every building in its Skyscraper Center database a number, and this field holds it. The council was founded in 1969 at Lehigh University and has been based in Chicago since 2003.
Its rulings are what make the number worth keeping. The council decides which measurement counts as a building's height, and the world's-tallest title rests on that decision.
The organization renamed itself the Council on Vertical Urbanism on 6 October 2025. The database and the numbers in it carry on unchanged, so an older source using the CTBUH name means the same records.
