fleche

A spire or similar tower centered on a roof ridge, separate from the building's tower count.

A fleche is a spire or similar tower which rises from the ridgeline of a gabled, hipped, or otherwise folded roof. It is a common architectural element in gothic and neo-gothic churches and in public buildings of various historic styles.

Fleches must be centered on the ridge of a roof; small towers rising from the edge of a building are classified as turrets.

A fleche is not counted in the number of towers for a building.
