pipeline
An elevated line of connected pipes forming a conduit for long-distance transport of liquid or gas.
A pipeline is a long, continuous elevated pipeway built to carry a liquid or gas across long distances. This does not include underground pipe systems such as sewers, water mains, or underground pipe systems of any kind, although a pipeline may pass through tunnels for part of its length.
The connected pipeway carries liquid or gas over a long route above the ground. It is the continuous transport structure, rather than equipment enclosed within a processing building.
A tunnel section can occur within that elevated route. This exception does not include an otherwise underground sewer, water main, or buried pipe network.
