Latvian populated area
The code identifying a Latvian densely populated area in the experimental statistics published by the Central Statistical Bureau.
A densely populated area is a territory where at least 50 people live or work close together. It is drawn from where the population and the workplaces actually are, independently of the administrative division, so it does not correspond to a village or any other unit and one does not nest inside the other.
Nine characters: the fixed prefix LVDPA followed by a four-digit serial, from LVDPA0001 upward, with roughly 1,700 in use. The serial reflects the order of assignment and has no internal structure.
The bureau publishes these as experimental statistics, which means the method and the boundaries may still change and are not internationally standardized. Codes beginning LVRIG, LVDGP and similar are neighborhoods inside the state cities, a different concept that does not belong in this field.
