A hotel-condominium is a collection of living units which may serve as homes but can also be converted by their owners into hotel rooms. When the units are used for lodging, they are let out by a central operator who shares the revenue with the unit owner. The operator also provides hotel-like services and amenities which can be used by both residents and paying guests.
Owners can use their units as homes and make them available for hotel lodging. The common operator handles the guest letting and shares its revenue with the unit owner.
Private rental of an ordinary condominium without that central hotel operation does not establish this usage. The shared hotel services can serve resident owners as well as paying guests.
