county courthouse

A general court operated by a county or comparable second-level subdivision below a state or province.

A county courthouse is a general court of law operated by a county or other second-level national subdivision (i.e. a sub-division of a state, province, or sub-national government).

The governmental unit lies below a state, province, or comparable subnational government. A county is one example of that second-level position.

The definition follows the court's responsible governmental level. A building's location within a county does not by itself make the court county-operated.
