lifeguard station
A place near a body of water designated for safety surveillance by trained lifeguards.
A lifeguard station is a surveillance post near a natural or artificial body of water, from which trained lifeguards monitor the safety of persons in or on the water to prevent drownings, injuries, and other mishaps.
The post can overlook a natural body of water or an artificial one. A poolside station is included alongside a station at a beach or lake.
Trained lifeguards use the location to monitor people in or on the water. The definition concerns the surveillance post rather than requiring a particular tower or building form.
