winery

A facility producing wine in quantities sufficient for commercial distribution to consumers.

A winery is a place where wine is produced on a scale sufficient for commercial distribution. Wineries typically include vats, tanks, and barrels where fruit juices are mixed, fermented, and aged to make potable wines. Many wineries are located near vineyards, and often feature rooms open to visitors for drinking the wine produced there.

The site makes wine from fruit juice through its production processes. Merely storing or bottling wine produced elsewhere does not establish that production use.

A vineyard supplies fruit and can be associated with a winery, but growing vines is a separate activity. Visitor tasting rooms are optional additions to the production facility.
