Paraguayan INE code
The code identifying a Paraguayan department or district in the geographic classifier kept by INE.
INE, the national statistics institute, publishes the geographic classification of Paraguay. It was the DGEEC until 2020, and files are still distributed under the older name. The country has 17 departments alongside Asuncion, which stands outside the department system as the capital district.
The length states the tier. A department has two digits, Alto Paraguay 17. A district has four, the department followed by two: 25 de Diciembre is 0212 in San Pedro 02.
District numbers restart at 01 in every department, so the last two digits identify nothing on their own. Asuncion is department 00 and district 00, an all-zeros code whose four-digit form should be preserved.
