cement board

A dense material composed of cement and reinforcing fibers, usually formed into hard sheets.

Cement board is an aggregate of cement and reinforcing fibers usually made of fiberglass. While its ingredients and manufacture are similar to various forms of fibrous concrete, it is denser and harder, and is usually delivered in the form of thick heavy sheets that can be cut and used as a facade material.

This material can also be used as a base for other facade materials like stucco, but it should only be listed as a facade material when it forms the outermost layer. It can be installed painted or naked.

Cement board has a very fine grainy texture, and typically appears smooth but unpolished. It is long-lasting and resistant to deterioration even in wet environments. It is not completely impermeable to water, but it dries easily and expands very little with heat.
