Will SKYDB Definitions support the semantic web and RDF?

Yes, SKYDB Definitions aims to support approaches to a semantic web, linked data, and technologies such as RDF.

SKYDB Definitions is aware of the usefulness that a semantic web (or many semantic webs) and linked data (or linked open data) may deliver. This usefulness of new applications and services will not arise solely from the availability of vocabularies and RDF-enabled resources.

The usefulness of a semantic web may arise especially from the ability of users to connect their offerings seamlessly to a standardized representation of the real world online. In this context, the codes (and later also the SKYDB Definitions services) may help to coordinate on information objects and ease the process of assigning information and links to them.

SKYDB Definitions is in the process of formulating the basic trees of meaning for information. Further development towards shared information will follow in the months and years to come. As part of this development, all these standards are planned to be RDF-ready.
