ball court
A constructed surface or platform for ball games which are not played on a field.
A ball court is a constructed site, usually a paved or hard surface, for ball games or similar sports which are not played on a grassy field (although in certain cases the surface of a court may be grass). Ball courts are commonly used for sports like tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, handball, etc.
The court is configured as a constructed playing site for a court game. A hard or paved surface is common, but grass courts are expressly included.
A ball field is the larger field arrangement used for field sports. The type of game and playing layout distinguish the two forms.
