A chute with flowing water where people can slide without any mechanized seat or cabin.
A water slide is an elevated trough which carries riders on flowing water along a path and down a chute without any moving seats or boats.
The flowing water supports sliding along the trough. Riders travel without the moving boat, seat, or cabin that would carry them on a mechanized water ride.
A flume carries passengers in boats through a wet chute. The water slide has the separate arrangement of riders sliding without those carriers.
